SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The Nebraska men's golf team finished the second day of action at the Cardinal Regional Challenge after shooting a seven-over-par 291 in the second round. The Huskers currently sit in 13th place in the 16 team field and will wrap up tournament play in the final round Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CT.
Duke remains in first place after a seven-under-par score of 277 (534 total). The Blue Devils hold the lead over tournament host Louisville (549) and South Florida (551) heading into the final day of competition.
Junior Tanner Owen climbed the individual leaderboards on day two after firing a season-low of 68 (-3). Owen sits tied for 25th with a total of 141 (-1). His round was highlighted by six birdies on the day.
Seniors Jace Guthmiller and Jackson Wendling both carded two-over-par 73’s on the round. Guthmiller sits tied for 30th with a 142 (E) total and Wendling finished the day at 145 (+3) for a tie at 57th with one round to play.
Senior Dylan McCabe posted a 77 and freshman Tristan Nelko totaled an 80 to complete the scoring for the Huskers.
The Huskers will look to improve on their 13th place position tomorrow as they are back in action for the final round set for tee off at 7:30 a.m. CT. A full recap of the invitational will be posted to Huskers.com once the results are finalized.
