James Sieckmann Named 2018 PGA Teacher of the Year

Former Husker James Sieckmann, the PGA Director of Instruction at The Golf Academy at Shadow Ridge Country Club in Omaha, has been named the 2018 PGA Teacher of the Year. Sieckmann is a 23-year PGA member in the Nebraska Section and was awarded the honor for his "outstanding services as a golf teacher, innovator and coach."

Sieckmann played on the Nebraska men's golf team from 1984-1988. Since then, he has gone on to earn high praise in his field as an educator and role model. He has instructed over 100 golfers and currently oversees 16 PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and Web.com Tour players, including 2017 Ricoh Women's British Open Champion In-Kyung Kim.

Throughout his career, Sieckmann has garnered a long list of honors as an educator. He was named to Golf Digest's "50 Best Teachers in America" list from 2015-2018 and is also a "Top 100 Teacher in America" according to GOLF Magazine. Sieckmann was inducted into the Nebraska Golf Hall of Fame in 2016 and is a nine-time Nebraska PGA Section Teacher of the Year as well as the 2000 Nebraska Section Horton Smith Award winner.

The PGA of America's National Awards will be presented on Nov. 6 at the 2018 PGA Annual Meeting in Indian Wells, Calif. Sieckmann will be one of 11 honorees to be presented with an award.
