Five Nebraska gymnasts have been named Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Scholastic All-Americans for their achievements in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year.
Seniors Danielle Breen, Abbie Epperson and Grace Williams, sophomore Sierra Hassel and freshman Kynsee Roby met the 3.5 grade-point average (GPA) requirement to receive WCGA Scholastic All-America recognition.
Breen reached WCGA All-America status for the fourth time of her illustrious academic career that also included two College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Honors. The Nebraska Female Student-Athlete of the Year is one of the 118 gymnasts who carried a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Epperson achieved WCGA All-America status for the second time in her career as a Husker, which she adds to her list of accomplishments in the classroom. She was also named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2018, and was also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2016 and 2018.
Williams became a two-time WCGA Scholastic All-American in 2018, adding to her academic resume. During her time at Nebraska, she became a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, and was also a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2018.
Hassel also becomes a WCGA Scholastic All-American for the second time. She was successful in her studies in 2018, becoming an Academic All-Big Ten selection and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar during her sophomore season.
Roby represents her freshman class as a WCGA Scholastic All-American for the 2017-18 season. She also was a member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for her accomplishments in the Fall of 2017 and Spring of 2018.
With 12 members of Nebraska’s active roster on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Spring Honor Roll in 2018, the Huskers posted a team GPA of 3.4329.
