Rising sophomore Thorir Thorbjarnarson saved his best performance for last at the U-20 European Championships Sunday morning.
Thorbjarnrson finished with a team-high 19 points and seven assists in Iceland’s 103-84 win over Romania in the consolation bracket.
The 6-foot-6 wing hit 7-of 11 shots from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, in helping Iceland to its first win of the tournament Sunday morning.
Thorbjarnarson finished the tournament average 9.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game, ranking second on Iceland’s team in scoring and first in assists. He closed tournament action with three straight double figure efforts and averaged 18.5 points on 67 percent shooting, including 55 percent from 3-point range in Iceland’s final two contests.
