Lloyd, Siedhoff Advance to 110-Meter Hurdles Final

Eugene, Ore. - The Nebraska track and field team began competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field on Wednesday. The men took center stage on day one, while the women begin action on Thursday.

Two Huskers advanced to the finals of the 110-meter hurdles, as Antoine Lloyd and Luke Siedhoff become the first pair of teammates to qualify for the finals in the event since 2008. Lloyd automatically qualified, as he placed second in his heat and sixth in the semifinal round with a time of 13.61. Siedhoff took third in Heat 1 with a wind-aided PR of 13.71 and had to wait out the conclusion of three heats, but did earn qualification on time as he finished with the eighth-fastest qualifying time. Prior to Wednesday, NU had not had a finalist in the 110-meter hurdles since Lehann Fourie placed sixth in 2010. A pair of Texas Tech teammates, Shawon Harris and Omo Osaghae, were the last teammates to qualify for the finals in the event in 2008. Three Houston sprinters qualified for the finals of the men's 100-meter dash on Wednesday as well.

The finals for the men’s 110-meter hurdles are set for Friday at 8:12 p.m. (CT). Siedhoff will run out of Lane 1, while Lloyd will be in Lane 2.

NU’s men’s 4x400-meter relay team of Andy Neal, Moujtaba Mohammed, Ty Moss and Sam Bransby posted the eighth-fastest time in the semifinal round, but narrowly missed advancing to the finals after taking fourth in their heat with a time of 3:05.43. The time was a season best and the 10th-fastest in NU history, as the team earned second-team All-America honors. Both Bransby and Neal were members of the 2017 team that also took home a second-team All-America award.

Nick Percy placed 23rd in the hammer throw with a mark of 202-5 (61.70m) to earn USTFCCCA Honorable Mention in NU’s only field event of the day. The school record-holder in the event, Percy was competing in the hammer at the NCAA Championships for the first time. He will compete in the discus on Friday, an event in which he won the NCAA title in 2016.

Mohammed also earned USTFCCCA Honorable Mention on Wednesday, as he placed 24th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.78.

Action at the NCAA Championships continues Thursday, as Brittni Wolczyk will compete in the javelin throw at 7:15 (CT) and Raynesha Lewis will be in action in the long jump at 7:30 (CT). The meet will be streamed live on WatchESPN, while a live broadcast will begin at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
