Huskers Bust Badgers, 4-0

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska women's tennis team captured a 4-0 win over Big Ten rival Wisconsin on Friday at the Dillon Tennis Center. With the win the Huskers move to 17-6 on the season and 6-4 in the Big Ten. 

Back in stride, Katerina Matysova and Vasani Shinde never fell behind in No. 3 doubles. The Husker duo picked up a 6-1 victory over Michelle Linden and Kelsey Grambeau of Wisonsin with ease. Matysova and Shinde now post a team-best 19-1 (8-1 Big Ten) overall doubles record on the season, with all wins coming from the No. 3 doubles position. 

Doubles pair Paula Del Cueto Castillo and Brianna Lashway were next to pick up a win for Nebraska. The pair polished a competitive comeback win at the No. 1 position. Del Cueto Castillo and Lashway defeated the Badgers' Sara Castellano and Alexis Keberle, 6-3, to give Nebraska a 1-0 lead on the dual. 

Del Cueto Castillo continued her winning ways with a 6-0, 6-1 stunner over Melissa Pick at No. 4 singles. The junior's victory brought the match total to 2-0 in the Huskers' favor. With the victory Del Cueto Castillo now holds a 11-7 (7-3 Big Ten) record on the season. 

Nebraska continued its sweep of Wisconsin with another victory at No. 6 singles. Husker Jeannie Lozowski picked up her eighth victory of the 2018 regular season with a stunning 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Linden.

Finishing up the dual for the Huskers almost immediately following Lozowski's win, senior team captain Matysova smashed a two set victory of her own on court 5. The Erding, Germany, native pushed past the Badger's Grambeau for the second time during the evening in a 6-0, 6-2 final decision. Matysova will finish out her collegiate tennis career with more than 100 combined wins to her name. 

The Nebraska women's tennis team will be back in action on Sunday for Senior Day as they take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Dillon Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to play at noon and will be outside, weather permitting.
