The Nebraska women's basketball team announced its home and road Big Ten opponents for 2018-19, which the conference released on Thursday, April 19. Nebraska's 18-game Big Ten Conference schedule will be released with dates and times at later dates with a final conference schedule expected in September.
The Big Ten, which has played 16-game conference schedules the past two seasons, will move back to the 18-game conference slate the league featured in 2014-15 and 2015-16. Nebraska will play nine Big Ten home games and nine conference road games.
Nebraska's nine home games at Pinnacle Bank Arena will include battles with 2018 NCAA Tournament teams Iowa, Maryland, Michigan and Minnesota along with 2018 WNIT champion Indiana. Other WNIT qualifiers coming to Lincoln in Big Ten play will be Michigan State and Purdue, while Rutgers and Northwestern round out Nebraska's Big Ten home schedule. The Scarlet Knights won 20 games last season and chose to turn down an invitation to the WNIT.
Nebraska's conference road contests against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams include clashes at defending Big Ten champion Ohio State, Iowa, Maryland and Michigan, while the Huskers will also face Purdue, Penn State, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Illinois on the road in league action.
The five Big Ten double-plays for the Big Red include Maryland, Iowa, Michigan, Purdue and Northwestern. Overall, Nebraska will play eight Big Ten Conference games against NCAA Tournament teams, while adding five more conference games against WNIT qualifiers. Nebraska is one of only five Big Ten teams that will face three or more NCAA Tournament opponents in conference double-plays in 2018-19. Minnesota has zero conference double-plays against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams. Twelve of Nebraska's 18 conference games will come against Big Ten foes that won 20 or more games in 2017-18.
