No. 46 Huskers Host Hawkeyes on Saturday

Lincoln, Neb. – The No. 46 Nebraska women’s tennis team (15-6, 4-4 B1G) returns home this Saturday to host the Iowa Hawkeyes (10-11, 2-6 B1G) as part of a final three-match homestand for the Huskers. The match will begin at noon at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.

The Hawkeyes are coming off a 5-2 win at Rutgers last weekend, which curtailed their five-match losing streak in the conference. Iowa’s second big win in the Big Ten was a 4-3 triumph over Michigan State in March, and after this weekend, the Hawkeyes only have upcoming duals against Minnesota and Wisconsin before the Big Ten Tournament initiates.

Iowa leads the all-time series against Nebraska, 17-9, after a 4-3 defeat of the Huskers in Iowa City at the end of the 2017 season. Returners Claire Reifeis, Hayley Haakenstad, M’Balia Bangoura, Vasanti Shinde and Paula Del Cueto Castillo each netted wins in last year’s loss.

Giveaways at this weekend’s match will include two new player cards for fans to collect, and there will be also be a live performance for the national anthem.
