IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Nebraska men's golf team returns to action on Saturday, Apr. 14 when the squad sets foot on Finkbine Golf Course for the Hawkeye Invitational. The par-72, 7,239-yard course will serve as host to the Huskers' last competitive event before the Big Ten Championships in two weeks.
The Huskers will look to build momentum ahead of the conference tournament by improving on their previous scores. Junior captains Jace Guthmiller and Jackson Wendling will again lead the Husker lineup in the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively. Guthmiller is coming off his sixth team-leading score of the season (221) at the Bighorn Invitational in Palm Desert, Calif. and looks to make a run for his seventh. Wendling is also ready to get back on top after finishing with the second highest score on the team (226).
Sophomore Tanner Owen will compete in the No. 3 slot in the Husker lineup. Owen is coming off a tied-for-60th place finish after golfing for a score of 229 at the Bighorn Invitational. Freshman Daniel Pearson makes his return to the lineup in the No. 4 spot after most recently competing at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate as an individual.
Junior Sean Song will round out the NU lineup in the No. 5 spot. Song is coming off a 59th place finish at the Bighorn Invitational where he golfed for a score of 228. Freshman Patrick Clare will also be traveling with the team to compete as an individual, marking his first time back in competition since the Badger Invitational last fall.
Daily recaps of the event will be posted to Huskers.com
