Knapton Grabs Second All-America Accolade

Columbus-- Sophomore Abigail Knapton earned her second consecutive All-America accolade Saturday night at the 2018 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio. Knapton produced an eighth-place finish on the platform board with a score of 286.15 aiding the Huskers to an overall 35th place finish. The two-time All-American also finished 22nd in the three-meter dive with a score of 307.60 on Friday. Knapton has improved her three-meter score by 25 points from last year.

"It was a very strong contest and Abi demonstrated a solid performance today," Diving Coach Natasha Chikina said.

Freshman Autumn Haebig made her first NCAA debut, swimming the 100 backstroke (52.29) on Friday.

"The swim was a bit off her best time, but it was a strong showing in her first NCAAs," Head Coach Pablo Morales said. "It caps off a great year for her, something she can build on for USA Summer Nationals and next year at Nebraska. It shows again what a great competitor she is and how well she is able to handle pressure of top-level competition. Many great swims still ahead of her."

This is the first time since Nebraska has sent a diver and swimmer to the NCAA Championships since joining the Big Ten in 2011.
