COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Nebraska track and field senior Antoine Lloyd finished second in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a school-record time of 7.60 at Gilliam Indoor Stadium on Saturday night.
Lloyd earned first-team All-America honors for the first time in his career with his time of 7.60, which topped Oladapo Akinmoladun's time of 7.61 in 2014. Lloyd's runner-up finish was the best individual finish by a Husker male at the NCAA Indoor Championships since 2009. Florida's Grant Holloway, the NCAA record holder in the 60-meter hurdles, won the event for the second straight year with a time of 7.47.
Lloyd was the only Husker to score team points at the meet. His eight points gave the Husker men a tie for 28th in the team race.
"I've been wanting to get this forever," Lloyd said. "My freshman year wasn't very good when it comes to indoors. I was just learning how to hurdle, learning how to come to college and run. Sophomore year, I was just outside of making it (to nationals). Junior year, I was injured during the entire indoor season. This was my last year I could actually do it, so I felt like if I'm going to come out here and do something I might as well do something amazing."
Landon Bartel earned indoor second-team All-America honors for the second time in his career, as he finished ninth in the high jump with a clearance of 7-0 1/2 (2.15m). Grant Anderson tied for 15th by clearing 6-10 3/4 (2.10m) to receive second-team All-America honors.
Both Husker triple jumpers were second-team All-Americans as well. Kaiwan Culmer finished 10th with a jump of 52-4 3/4 (15.97m) on his third attempt. Angela Mercurio was 15th with a leap of 40-7 1/2 (12.38m).
The men's 4x400-meter relay initially won their heat with a time of 3:05.77, but they were later disqualified for stepping out of their lane.
