No. 42 Huskers Ready for No. 35 Wildcats, Cyclones

Lincoln, Neb. – The No. 42 Nebraska women’s tennis team heads out on the road for the first time in eight matches this Friday, as it travels to Manhattan, Kan., for a 10:30 a.m. matchup against the No. 35 Kansas State Wildcats. The Huskers will be back at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center on Sunday as they go up against the Iowa State Cyclones at 11 a.m. Admission to the Dillon Tennis Center is free.

The 5-1 Wildcats host the 7-2 Huskers off of a four-game winning streak following their 4-1 win against Colorado last Sunday. Kansas State has also added wins against UMKC, UCSB, North Texas and Washington State, falling only to Florida International in their second match of the season, 3-4. Nebraska and Kansas State last faced each other in official season play on March 2, 2013, when the No. 10 Huskers defeated the No. 32 Wildcats, 7-0. The Huskers lead the all-time series against the Wildcats, 33-12.

Back in Lincoln on Sunday, Nebraska hopes to add another win to its 40-3 all-time series advantage over Iowa State, who it hasn’t played in an official season match since a 7-0 win by the No. 38 Huskers in a Big 12 conference matchup on April 23, 2011. The Cyclones are 5-2 on the year after producing wins against Augustana, South Dakota, Illinois-Chicago, Bethune-Cookman and Embry-Riddle. Iowa State faces the Big Red after a 2-4 road loss against Stetson University last Saturday. The Cyclones will also compete against Creighton at the Dillon Tennis Center at 11 a.m. this Saturday, and go up against UNO at 3 p.m. on Sunday following their match against the Huskers.
