Huskers Finish 21st at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. - The Nebraska men's golf team concluded the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Sunday after golfing for a third round score of 308. The Huskers finished the three-day event at the par-72, 7,322-yard course with a total score of 900 and in 21st place overall. California won the first place crown after maintaining an impressive lead throughout the tournament.

Junior captain Jace Guthmiller led the way yet again for the Husker squad, scoring a 71 in the third round and finishing tied for 25th overall. Guthmiller capped off the weekend with a total score of 215 and finished with the best score on the team for the fifth time this season.

Sophomore Cameron Jones was the next highest finisher from NU after golfing for a third round score of 75 and 227 total, placing tied for 91st. Jones competed as an individual at the event. Junior Sean Song came in tied for 97th following a third round stroke of 82 and 228 total.

Junior Dylan McCabe posted a stroke of 79 in the third round and finished with a combined score 229, finishing tied for 103rd. Junior captain Jackson Wendling golfed for a stroke of 80 in the final round and finished with 232, tying for 112th overall. Sophomore Tanner Owen rounded out the Husker lineup in 132nd after a stroke of 78 and a total of 241.

The Huskers will look to bounce back and respond strong in two weeks at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate in sunny Scottsdale, Ariz. on March 3-4. Be sure to check back to Huskers.com for a full preview during the week leading up to the event.
