Huskers Hope to Upend Sooners

No. 12 Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-0 Overall, 5-0 Big Ten) vs. Oklahoma Sooners (5-1 Overall, 1-0 Big 12) Friday Feb. 16 at 6:45 p.m., Oklahoma City, Okla. 

LINCOLN, Neb. – No. 12 Nebraska women’s gymnastics will travel to Oklahoma City, Okla., to take on No. 1 Oklahoma in the Perfect 10 Challenge on Friday Feb. 16 at 6:45 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center.

The Huskers improved to 5-0 overall and 5-0 in the Big Ten last weekend, after overcoming Iowa 195.675 – 194.900. Nebraska has hit a season-high score of 196.875 against Michigan on Jan. 27 and looks to upset the Sooners away from their home in Norman, Okla. The Huskers opened the 2018 season on the road defeating Penn State and completed a three-meet homestand where they enjoyed victories over Rutgers, Michigan and Minnesota. Last weekend, Nebraska defeated their fifth-consecutive Big Ten opponent Iowa and are facing their first non-conference opponent in OU on Friday. 

Last Routine
Against Iowa, the Huskers swept all events including Sienna Crouse winning vault, where she is undefeated through five meets. Notably, sophomore Sierra Hassel shared the floor event title with senior Grace Williams. The share is Hassel’s first career-event title.

Scouting the Sooners
Oklahoma has posted the highest team score in the nation this year with a 198.150, and also holds the top score on vault (49.400), bars (49.495), and beam (49.525). Both Oklahoma and Nebraska are known for their beam work and the Huskers have posted a season-high 49.325 on beam this year. The Sooners have posted a 198.00 or higher three times this season. 

Series History
Nebraska leads the all-time series with its former Big Eight/Big 12 rival Oklahoma, 62-31. OU has gotten the best of the Huskers
in each of the last five meetings, with Nebraska’s last win over the Sooners a 196.750-196.475 victory on Feb. 3, 2012.
