Husker Relays Start Strong at Big Tens

Columbus- The Nebraska swim and dive team began competition in the 2018 Big Ten Championships with two strong relay performances.

In the 200-yard medley, the Huskers (Haebig, Worlton, Murray, Helferich) posted a ninth-place finish with a time of 1:39.43. This is the second-best relay time in school history.

The Big Red (Haebig, Flatt, Pentlarge, Worrall)  finished 10th in the 800-yard freestyle coming in at  7:11.60, another second-best time in school history.

Freshman standout Autumn Haebig led both relays for the Huskers. Head coach Pablo Morales said she "stepped up like we knew she could and the other girls followed her lead."

Haebig set the school record for the 800 freestyle relay leadoff with her time of 1:45.96.

"I was very excited about the performance tonight," Morales said. "It's always very encouraging to get a strong start and to get the girls in a good mindset for the coming week."

The Huskers will continue competition tomorrow for session two, which will begin at 10 a.m.
