Richton Park, Ill.- The top ranked Nebraska bowling team sits in first place after going undefeated Saturday at the Crusader Classic in Richton Park, Ill. with a 4-0 record in five traditional matches (one bye).
Through two days of competition, the Huskers have an overall record of 9-0 and a total pinfall of 9,842.
In their first match of the day, the Huskers beat Lincoln Memorial by a score of 970-891. After a bye in which the Huskers posted a pinfall of 1,054, Nebraska cruised to a win over Lincoln (Mo.) by a score of 911-688.
The Huskers closed the day with consecutive wins over Wisconsin-Whitewater in a close 998-992 contest and a 1,034-930 win over the hosts Valparaiso.
The individual standings from Saturday’s competition will be announced Sunday, following the All-Tournament Team and MVP awards announcement.
Due to the weather conditions in Richton Park, the format of Sunday’s championship round will be changed. In place of the usual bracket-style play, there will be three five-game Baker matches played Sunday, beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the pinfall leader over the three days will be tournament champion. The Huskers will face Augustana and Alabama A&M in the first two matches.
