The Nebraska women’s tennis team opens its 2018 season this Friday, Jan. 26, when it attends the ITA Kickoff Weekend at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn. The team will take eight members of its 12-player roster for the two rounds of play this weekend.
The Huskers start spring play with a 3 p.m. match on Friday against No. 2 Vanderbilt. If the Big Red comes out victorious over Commodores, it will then compete at 1 p.m. Saturday in the championship match, otherwise it will compete at 9 a.m. in the consolation match. Action on Saturday will be against either Florida State or Virginia.
Nebraska last played Vanderbilt in the 2012-13 season. That year the Huskers won their first conference title since 1978 and made a run to the the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever. The No.17-ranked Huskers beat the No. 21 Commodores on Feb. 9, 2013, 4-3.
