Huskers in the Lead Heading Into Final Day of Mid-Winter Invitational

Jonesboro, Ark.- The top-ranked Nebraska bowling team remains undefeated heading into the final day of competition with a record of 10-0 and a total pinfall of 10,589 at the Mid-Winter Invitational hosted by third-ranked Arkansas State.

  Vanderbilt sits in second place with a pinfall of 10,413, while Sam Houston State and McKendree round out the top-four teams.   NU’s performance on Saturday was highlighted by three individuals who finished in the top-five. Senior Kelly Belzeski finished first in the individual standings with a staggering average of 233.8, her third-career individual tournament title. Sophomore Allison Morris had one of her best outings as a Husker, as she came in just behind Belzeski in second place with an average of 232.2.   Sophomore Raquel Orozco also landed in the top five, as she finished in fourth place after posting an average of 229.   The Huskers began the day with a dominant victory over Lincoln (Mo.) 1,225-752, before NU cruised to a 936-748 victory over Alabama A&M.   NU continued its winning streak, as the Huskers found consecutive wins over No. 5 Sam Houston State, 1,193-1,055, and No. 20 Maryville, 1,113-1,025.   In its final match of the day, Nebraska took down No. 5 Central Missouri, 1,069-969.   The Cornhuskers will face Vanderbilt in the opening round of the best-of-seven Baker format championship tournament on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. (CT). The winner of the match will go on to play in the championship final and the loser will face the winner of the Sam Houston State-McKendree match for a spot in the final.   Mid-Winter Invitational Overall Standings (Pinfall after two days of competition)  1.
