The Nebraska bowling team has secured the top spot in the nation in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association poll, released Wednesday.
The Huskers, who are 33-5 in head-to-head matches this season, received 36 out of a possible 38 first-place votes. After starting the season in the No. 2 spot the Huskers have earned their way to the top, after winning two of their three tournaments so far this season.
McKendree, which had been ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll, fell to the number two spot, and received one first-place vote. Arkansas State and Vanderbilt maintain the third- and fourth-place spots, respectively. Sam Houston State also remained in fifth place and received one first-place vote.
The Huskers will return to competition following winter break, Jan. 12-14, at the Mid-Winter Classic in Jonesbroro, Ark.
