Huskers Travel to Fort Worth to Face TCU, Memphis

The No. 14 Nebraska rifle team heads to Fort Worth, Texas to face No. 2 TCU and No. 18 Memphis in the first road matches of the 2017-18 season. The Huskers will face TCU and Memphis on Oct. 28 and Memphis again on Oct. 29. Action is set to begin at 8 a.m. on both days.

Last Time Out

Nebraska hosted Army West Point on Oct. 21, notching their first win of the season with a score of 4,631-4,630. Dacotah Faught and Samantha Peterson both shot a score of 578 to lead the Huskers in smallbore. Freshman Emily Cheramie added a 574. Faught and Peterson also paved the way in air rifle with scores of 587 and 588, respectively.

Series History

The Huskers are 28-5 against Memphis since the teams’ first meeting in 1999. NU has won the last eight matches against the Tigers and looks to continue the trend this weekend. Nebraska has an overall record of 4-15-1 against TCU.

Scouting TCU

Second-ranked TCU is coming off of a first-place finish at a triangular meet with Murray State and JSU. The Horned Frogs fired a 4,726 as a team, led by senior Mindy Miles and junior Rachel Garner. TCU is currently undefeated and has scored at least 4,718 as a team in all four of their matches so far this season.

Scouting Memphis

The Tigers are 0-4 going into the weekend. Memphis’ most recent outing was a home match against Akron. Despite a match-high aggregate score of 1,161 from senior Makennon Doran and a 1,158 from junior Leighton Dempster, the Tigers fell to Akron 4,655-4,611.
