Huskers Prep for B1G Championships

The Nebraska cross country team will compete at the Big Ten Championships Sunday, October 29 in Bloomington, Ind. on the IU Championship Cross Country Course. The men’s race is set to start at 10:45 a.m. and the women’s race will begin at 11:45 a.m.

The Husker men’s team will be led by senior Austin Post and junior Wyatt McGuire, who have consistently been top performers for the Big Red this season. Wyatt McGuire has posted top-five finishes in both of the last two meets, including a second-place finish at the Sam Bell Invitational, which took place on the IU Championship Cross Country Course. Post has finished in the top-20 in each of the four meets that Nebraska has competed at this season. Redshirt Freshman Mark Freyhof, who owns three top-15 finishes this season, is also a runner to keep an eye on.

The Husker women’s team will be led by seniors Bonnie Smith, who has posted the highest finish by a Husker in every meet this season, and owns two top-10 finishes. Fellow senior Katrina Santiago has also been a top finisher for the Huskers this season, with two top-20 finishes. Other lead runners are sophomore Rachel Brush, with a pair of top-20 finishes, and freshman Erika Freyhof, who has one top-15 finish.
