No. 11 Nebraska Hosts No. 12 Army West Point

The No. 11 Nebraska rifle team will host No. 12 Army West Point this weekend at the Nebraska Rifle Range. The Huskers are coming off a loss to West Virginia in the regular-season opener.  Action is set to begin at 8 a.m.  

Last time out

On Oct. 14 Nebraska’s overall score of 4,653 was not enough to overcome West Virginia’s total of 4,716. Dacotah Faught and Samantha Peterson led the Huskers in air rifle, firing a 592 and 591 respectively. Nina Radulovic and Kayla Gadeken both fired 578 to pace NU in smallbore. Nebraska climbed four spots in the CRCA poll following the match, moving up from a No. 15 ranking.

Series History

The Huskers are 20-16 overall against Army West Point, dating back to 1999. Nebraska has won eight of the last nine meetings and looks to continue the trend this weekend.

Scouting Army West Point

The Black Knights are coming off of a bye week following a three day series against Ole Miss, Murray State and Memphis. The team lost to Ole Miss (4,622-4,645) on Oct. 7 and Murray State (4,650-4,710) on Oct. 8. Army West Point notched their first win of the season against Memphis with a final score of 4,629-4,607. Junior Payne Nunn is the shooter to watch, having led the Black Knights in both disciplines in the win. Freshman Clayton Hanson has been doing well for the Black Knights as well, even leading the team in smallbore against Murray State.
