Sophomore Defensive Lineman Carlos Davis
On how he feels headinginto a short week
“I actually feel pretty good. I took care of my body. I took an ice bath, so I feel pretty great going in.”

On if Sunday’s routine was any different because of the short week
“We came in on Sunday and we lifted, and then we watched film, and then we flip-flopped the defense and offense. Then we had a team dinner and then we were out of here.”

On if the players like the short week
“I think we are pretty excited about playing on Friday and having a Saturday off. So we are excited for getting ready for this game this week kind of early.”

On the defensive line rotation
“It is fun. Just playing with different people, I think that’s good for the defense just being able to play with everybody and not just a set group the whole game.”

On if the team is starting to find combinations that work in certain situations
“Oh yeah, most definitely.”

On what has clicked with the defense over the last few games
“It is in the practice. We dial down and Coach (Diaco) always talks about taking one play at a time. We emphasize that during the week and we just keep getting better and it showed in the game, every week.”

On if he went on the trip to Illinois in 2015
“I did. I remember being there as a freshman.”

On his thoughts on the 2015 Illinois game
“I thought the stadium was pretty cool, but I was sick because we lost. But I think the experience was good just being there.”

On the team’s confidence after the Rutgers game
“Everybody was high spirits. We were very excited about getting a win under our belt and just ready to move on to next weekend and get another one."
