Charleston, S.C. --- The No. 6 Nebraska rifle team opened the 2017-18 season at the NCAA Test Event on Sunday, where a combined score of 4,631 placed them in third behind Ole Miss and NC State.
Nina Radulovic paved the way for NU in smallbore with a second-place score of 580. Not far behind her was Samantha Peterson (576) and Dacotah Faught (575). Kayla Gadeken fired a 573, bringing NU’s total score in smallbore to 2,304.
Dacotah Faught led the Huskers in air rifle, firing an impressive 591. Behind her was Samantha Peterson with a 585 and Kayla Gadeken with a 577. Maddie Korthas (574) rounded out the team to contribute to the overall air rifle score of 2,327.
Freshman Emily Cheramie made her debut for Nebraska, firing an impressive 570 in smallbore and 582 in air rifle. Kendra Jacobs from NC State led the field in air rifle with a score of 593, while Harley Gardner from Ole Miss placed first in smallbore after firing a 581. Ole Miss placed first overall with a total score of 4,661, followed by NC State with a score of 4,650. The Citadel rounded out the field with a score of 4,554.
This matched served as an exhibition and NU will begin the regular season on Oct. 14 when it hosts West Virginia. Competition is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in the Nebraska Rifle Range, which is located in the basement of the Military and Naval Science Building on 14th and Vine.
