CAREFREE, Ariz. - The Nebraska men's golf team is currently in 9th place after golfing for a score of 298 in the first day of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at Desert Forest Golf Club. Action at the par-72, 7,203-yard course will continue tomorrow with the second of three rounds.
Kent State leads the tournament with a team score of 281, followed by Arizona State and Minnesota tied for second at 289. Georgia Tech (291) and Kansas (292) round out the top five.
Juniors Jace Guthmiller and Jackson Wendling again lead the Huskers' lineup, each with a score of 72 and tied for 11th overall.
Junior Sean Song hit for a score of 76 in his first round of the season. He is tied for 40th overall heading into the second round.
Freshman Daniel Pearson is tied for 51st overall after posting a score of 78. Sophomore Tanner Owen put up a score of 79 in the first round and is tied for 57th going into day two.
Nebraska will begin the second round on the No. 10 tee on Saturday, with the Huskers’ tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT.
