Two Huskers Earn Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Awards

Two Husker baseball players earned recognition from the Big Ten on Wednesday, claiming Distinguished Scholar awards from the conference for their work in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year.

Junior Ethan Frazier and sophomore Alex Henwood each made the list for the first time. Frazier made seven appearances on the mound for the Big Red in 2017, including four starts. He went 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA in 15.2 innings. He struck out 11 batters on the season, while giving up 14 hits.

Henwood played in seven games in 2017, hitting .333 (1-for-3) with an RBI double. He drew two walks and scored two runs.

59 Husker student-athletes combined for 62 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar awards, including 13 student-athletes who were perfect 4.0 GPAs in 2016-17.
