Lincoln, Neb.-- The Nebraska men's tennis team took on Big Ten opponent Minnesota at home at the Dillon Tennis Center on Friday night. The Huskers played a tough match but fell 7-0.
In doubles, Toby Boyer and Dylan Bednarczyk paired up in the No. 1 spot against Matic Spec and Felix Corwin but were defeated 6-2. David Samardzija and Micah Klousia also faught hard against the Gophers but fell 6-2. Tomislav Antoljak and Chris Dean played a good match against Josip Krstanovic and Marino Alpeza but the Gophers came out on top, 6-4. Minnesota took the doubles match point.
In singles play, David Samardzija played in the No. 6 spot against Marino Alpezo and fell 6-3, 6-2. Toby Boyer also faught hard in his match but fell to Matic Spec, 6-2, 6-2. Chris Dean played in the No. 5 spot but the Gophers took the point, 6-2, 6-2. Micah Klousia also played well against the Gophers, having to go into a tie-breaking set where he fell 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6). Dylan Bednarczyk had to go into a tie-breaking set but also fell to Minnesota. Tomilav Antoljak played Stefan Milicevic and as the last match to end, fell 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).
The Huskers play next on the road against Big Ten opponent, Wisconsin on March 26 at noon. The Huskers are back at home against Penn State March 31, at 7 p.m.
