West Lafayette, Ind.- In the final day of the 2017 Big Ten Championships, Anna Filipcic was named second-team All-Big Ten and Jacqueline Jeschke earned Nebraska's Sportsmanship Award. Multiple Huskers set personal records as the Big Red finished 10th among the 13 Big Ten teams with a final total of 385.
In the 200-yard breastroke prelims, Tori Beeler posted an NCAA B-cut (2:15.50) and Gwen Worlton set a personal best (2:18.93) along with Bridget Pacilio (2:17.37). Tampa native Savannah Savitt also set a career best in the prelims (2:19.62).
Jeschke found a personal record of her own in the 200-yard butterfly prelims with a time of 2:03.18, followed by Shea Bougie's career record at 2:03.83.
Senior captain Erin Oeltjen had an impressive 200-yard backstroke prelim, setting a personal best with a time of 1:55.17. In the finals, Oeltjen secured an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a final time of 1:56.31.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Julia Roller set a personal best in the prelims with a time of 50.05, and followed up with 50.24 in the finals.
Junior Jordan Ehly posted a B-cut in the 100-yard breaststroke (2:13.38) which was also a new personal best.
Omaha native Dana Posthuma posted a B-cut and a personal best in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.16).
On the diving front, both Abi Knapton (257.50) and Katrina Voge (227.35) posted A-Cuts in the platform diving event.
The Big Red earned an 11th-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Lindsay Helferich, Samantha Hedrick, Oeltjen, and Roller in the pool (3:20.79).
Huskers swimmers will continue to prepare for postseason competition at NCAA Last Chance Meets, Feb. 23-26.
