St. Charles, Mo. - The 16th-ranked Nebraska women's gymnastics team took first place over Brown, Lindenwood, and Seattle Pacific with a season-high score of 197.125 on Friday at the GymQuarters Invitational at Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. The Huskers posted a score of 49.550 on floor, which is tied for the fifth-highest score on the event in school history.
The Cornhuskers (10-3, 4-1 Big Ten) swept the event titles at the meet, with Jennie Laeng claiming the all-around title for a second straight meet with a 39.350. Laeng also earned the bars title with a score of 9.875. Megan Schweihofer and Ashley Lambert shared the vault title, as both scored a 9.90. Danielle Breen's career-high 9.925 on beam gave her the title on the event, while Taylor Houchin took the floor crown with a career-high 9.95, NU's highest individual score of the season.
Lindenwood took second with a score of 194.000, while Brown was third with a 193.350 and Seattle Pacific was fourth with a score of 191.000.
Rotation One
Nebraska began the meet on bars and took an early lead with a solid 49.200. Laeng led the way with her 9.875, while Sienna Crouse posted a 9.85 for NU. Breen and Abbie Epperson each tied a season high with scores of 9.825, while Houchin matched with a 9.825 of her own to round out the Husker scoring.
Brown began on floor with a score of 48.675, while Lindenwood posted a 48.450 on vault and Seattle Pacific scored a 48.250 on beam.
Rotation Two
The Huskers moved to beam, where they racked up a team score of 49.125. Breen was NU's top performer on the event with her career and season-high score of 9.925, Nebraska's highest beam score of the season. Grace Williams followed with a 9.85, while Schweihofer and Epperson each added a 9.825. Houchin and Laeng chipped in a pair of 9.70s to help the team score.
Lindenwood earned a 48.375 on bars, while Brown scored a 47.725 on vault and Seattle Pacific posted a 47.225 on floor.
Rotation Three
NU moved to floor for its third rotation and posted its best performance of the season with a 49.550. Houchin paced the Big Red, scoring a career high of 9.95. Schweihofer added a strong 9.925, a career high for the sophomore. Laeng and Lambert improved the team score with a pair of 9.90s, while Williams scored a 9.875 to round out the Husker effort.
Lindenwood scored a 48.600 on beam, while Brown earned a 48.500 on bars and Seattle Pacific notched a 48.725 on vault.
Rotation Four
In the final rotation, Nebraska scored a 49.250 on vault to seal the victory. Lambert and Schweihofer led the way for the Huskers with a pair of 9.90s. Laeng and Epperson posted a 9.875 and 9.80, respectively. Crouse rounded out the team score with a 9.775.
To finish the meet, Lindenwood scored a 48.575 on floor, while Brown posted a 48.450 on beam and Seattle Pacific earned a 46.800 on bars.

The Huskers will return home to host the 27th-annual Masters Classic next Saturday, as they welcome No. 18 California, Southeast Missouri and Utah State to the Devaney Center. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m. and will be streamed on Huskers.com (subscription required). Next Saturday will also be Senior Night for Nebraska’s two seniors, as Jennie Laeng and Ashley Lambert will be honored following the competition for their contributions to the Nebraska program. As part of the “Light Up the Night” promotion, the first 1,500 fans will receive light-up batons and the first 250 students will receive t-shirts.
