Nebraska Hosts Bulldogs, Rams this Weekend

Lincoln, Neb. –  The Nebraska women’s tennis team will welcome another pair of teams to the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center this weekend. The Drake Bulldogs visit the Huskers on Friday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m., followed by a dual against the Colorado State Rams on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. Admission is free into both matches.

Friday, the undefeated Huskers (7-0) will take on a Drake team that is 3-2 on the season. The Bulldogs have won three of their last four duals, posting wins over South Dakota, Augustana (S.D.) and Omaha during that stretch. The Big Red leads the all-time series with Drake, 20-14, including a 4-0 victory last year.

The Colorado State Rams come to Lincoln on Sunday as the final opponent in Nebraska's season-opening nine-match homestand. The Rams are currently 2-2 on the year after rallying for a 4-3 win against Incarnate Word last Friday. Colorado State has also defeated Milwaukee this season, while the Rams' losses are to Colorado and Wisconsin. CSU will face Drake on Saturday before taking on the Huskers on Sunday. Nebraska is a perfect 19-0 all-time against Colorado State, including a 7-0 sweep last season.

Nebraska improved to 7-0 after defeats of Eastern Michigan and Creighton last weekend. The Huskers soared past both opponents, defeating the Eagles, 6-1, and the Bluejays, 7-0. Following this weekend's home matches, the Huskers will hit the road for Piscataway, N.J., for a Big Ten Conference battle with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The match with Rutgers will mark the Big Red’s first road match and the first conference matchup of the season.
