Huskers Fall to West Virginia

Morgantown, W.V. --- Despite a valiant effort, the No. 8 Nebraska rifle team fell to the second-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers on Sunday by a score of 4,710-4,646, suffering just its second loss of the season. 

Nina Radulovic and Samantha Peterson led the Huskers in smallbore, each firing 577. Dacotah Faught followed with 576, while Rachel Martin earned 573. Jaycee Carter notched 566 to give NU a team score of 2,303.

Nebraska had a lot of ground to make up in air rifle. Martin and Radulovic led the comeback effort scoring 589 and 587, respectively. Carter earned 584, while Faught and Peterson each added 583. Nebraska finished with a team score of 2,343, but the Huskers could not catch up to the Mountaineers.

Olympic Gold Medalist Ginny Thrasher received the highest smallbore score for West Virginia with 592. Milica Babic paved the way in air rifle with a score of 597. 

The Huskers conclude their series of away matches next weekend when the team travels to Memphis, Tenn., for a match against Memphis and Jacksonville State University on Jan. 28. Competition is set to begin at 8 a.m.
