Lambert leads Nebraska to Quad Meet Win

Piscataway, N.J. - The 10th-ranked Nebraska women's gymnastics team won the Rutgers quadrangular meet with a score of 196.050 Saturday night against Rutgers, Brown and West Chester at Livingston Gym in Piscataway, N.J. The Huskers move to 4-0 and 2-0 in Big Ten action on the season.

The victory in the quad meet clinched Nebraska's 900th win in program history. Nebraska's all-time record improves to 902-472-7 since the program was founded in 1976.

Ashley Lambert picked up her first event titles of the season, winning the all-around with a 39.200, vault with a 9.875 and floor with a 9.90. Sienna Crouse and Megan Schweihofer shared the bars title with scores of 9.85.

Rutgers finished second with a score of 194.200, Brown was third with a 190.650 and West Chester finished fourth with a score of 190.475. Claire Jones from Rutgers won the beam title with a 9.875.

Rotation One
The Huskers began the meet on bars, and posted a solid 49.100. Crouse and Schweihofer led the way for the Huskers with scores of 9.85, while Abbie Epperson posted a 9.825 in her first routine as a Husker. Lambert scored a 9.80 and Danielle Breen scored a 9.775 to round out the Husker scoring.

Rutgers scored a 48.525 on vault, while West Chester began on floor with a 48.300 and Brown posted a 46.275 on beam.

Rotation Two
Nebraska moved to beam for the second rotation, and scored a season-high 48.500. Grace Williams led the way for the Big Red with a 9.85, after a she was granted a second routine because of a judges' ruling. Breen scored a 9.775, while Houchin notched a 9.675. Lambert scored a 9.625 and Schweihofer posted a 9.575 for the Huskers.

Rutgers scored a 48.050 on bars, Brown scored a 48.275 on floor and West Chester scored a 48.000 on vault. After two rotations, Nebraska held the lead with a score of 97.600.

Rotation Three
In the penultimate rotation of the night, the Huskers performed on floor exercise, and set a season high with a score of 49.275. Lambert, a 2015 second-team All-American on floor exercise, led the Huskers with a 9.90. Crouse scored a strong 9.875, while Schweihofer scored a 9.85 and Laeng and Epperson posted a pair of 9.825s. 

Rutgers scored a 48.800 on beam, Brown scored a 48.150 on vault and West Chester scored a 46.625 on bars. After three rotations, the Huskers led the meet with a score of 146.875.

Rotation Four
The Huskers clinched their victory with a 49.175 on vault. Lambert, whose last vault in Livingston Gym was a 10.0 on Jan. 24, 2015, led the way with a 9.875, while Schweihofer notched a 9.85. Laeng and Houchin scored 9.825s, and Crouse posted a 9.80 for the Big Red.

Rutgers finished with a 48.825 on floor, while Brown scored a 47.950 on bars and West Chester posted a 47.550 on beam.

Nebraska will continue its three-meet road swing next Saturday in a Big Ten matchup at No. 12 Michigan. The dual meet with the Wolverines is set to begin at 3 p.m. (CT) at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich, and it can be seen on MGoBlueTV.
