Post-Eligibility Experiences

Participation in PEO will be offered to all current and future letterwinner alumni who meet the following requirements on or after December 19, 2015: letter in a varsity sport, graduate from UNL, exhaust athletic eligibility at UNL, and be in good standing with the university and athletic department at the time of application for PEO funding. To be eligible to participate in PEO, student-athletes will need to attend and complete mandatory workshops and meet specific opportunity requirements outlined below.

Internships

- In addition to requirements outlined in the internship checklistinternational internship checklist, or international student internship checklist, requirements include, but are not limited to, a polished resume, a successful interview, and an offer of a legitimate, professional internship. (Internship offer must include a detailed description of internship responsibilities and include, at minimum, 20 hours of work per week.) 

  • Recipients must also apply and be accepted as a non-degree, post-baccalaureate student and enroll in internship credit.

Entrepreneurship 

  • Entrepreneur experiences must first be approved by the PEO committee through the completion of a PEO Exception Request form.
  • If approved, recipients must also apply and be accepted as a non-degree, post-baccalaureate student and enroll in internship credit.
  • In addition to completing all related work in the internship course, participants are also required to meet with a professional mentor each month who has also started their own business.


Study Abroad

- In addition to requirements outlined in the study abroad checklist, requirements include, but are not limited to, researching study abroad programs, being accepted into a program, obtaining the necessary travel documents – i.e. passport and visas, and vaccinations.

- Recipients must also apply and be accepted as a non-degree, post-baccalaureate student and enroll in study abroad credit.

- It is likely that participation would require students to invest time and effort for several semesters prior to graduation.

Graduate School

- In addition to requirements outlined in the graduate school checklist, medical school/law school checklist, and international student graduate school checklist, additional requirements include, but are not limited to, researching graduate programs, taking standardized pre-requisite exams, writing personal essays or purpose statements, and being accepted into a program.  

- It is likely that participation would require students to invest time and effort for several semesters prior to graduation.
