Nebraska is ranked 10th in the first College Football Playoff Poll of the 2016 season, the Huskers' highest ranking in the three-year history of the poll.
The poll was released on Tuesday evening and will be released weekly leading up to the selection of the four College Football Playoff participants and New Year's Six bowl teams on Sunday, Dec. 4.
Nebraska is one of five Big Ten teams ranked in the top 12 of the first poll, including No. 3 Michigan, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 8 Wisconsin and 12th-ranked Penn State. Nebraska earned its top-10 ranking with a 7-1 start, tying its best in the past 15 seasons. The Huskers suffered their first setback of the season Saturday in an overtime loss at Wisconsin.
Prior to this ranking, the Huskers' highest ranking the CFP poll was a No. 13 ranking in November of 2014.
