Filipcic Earns Big Ten Diving Honor

Nebraska's Anna Filipcic earned recognition for her strong season-opening performance at Iowa State by capturing Big Ten Diver-of-the-Week honors as chosen by the conference office on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

It was the first award of the season for the All-America diver from Omaha, Neb., and the sixth Big Ten Conference Diver-of-the-Week honor of her career.

The 2016 Big Ten runner-up on the one-meter board captured a pair of victories in Nebraska's season-opening team win over Iowa State on Oct. 8. Filipcic claimed the one-meter title with a winning score of 315.08, while adding a victory in the three-meter diving event with a total of 328.88. Her performance in each event qualified her for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships later this season.

Filipcic and the Huskers will be back in action Friday, Oct. 14, when they take on South Dakota State in Brookings. The road dual with the Jackrabbits begins at 3 p.m.

The Huskers next home dual will be on Friday, Oct. 28 against Northern Iowa at 5 p.m.
