Huskers Seek Top Five Finish at Bayou City Collegiate Classic

Pearland, Texas - The Nebraska men’s golf team is sitting in eighth place at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic after shooting a cumulative team score of 586 after 36 holes.

The Huskers posted a score of 296 in the first round at the Golfcrest Country Club, a par-72, 7,254-yard layout. The men scored a 290 in the second round, putting them +10 over par for the first day.

Senior Michael Colgate fired scores of 69 and 73, putting him in a tie for eighth going into Tuesday’s final round.

Justin Jennings opened with a 75 in his first round, and finished the day with a 69 in his second round. The senior is tied for 20th.

Sophomore Jackson Wendling posted two rounds of 75, putting him in a tie for 55th going into Tuesday.

Jace Guthmiller shot a 78 in the first round of the tournament. The sophomore came back with a 73 in the second round, putting him in a tie for 63rd.

Freshman Cameron Jones carded rounds of 77 and 76 putting him in a tie for 70th going into Tuesday’s final round.

Kansas is sitting in first place, with a team score of 563.

Final round play begins at 8 a.m., Tuesday. It will be a split-tee start off No. 1 and No. 10.
