Senior captain Jacob Olson was named the Big Ten Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Olson is the first runner to receive the honor in the Big Ten this season.
Olson paced the Huskers to the team title at the Augustana Twilight, finishing first in the four-mile race. He crossed the finish line in 18:48.86, with a one-mile pace of 4:42.
This is the first time Olson, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, has earned the Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor in his career. The last Nebraska runner to earn the award was Wyatt McGuire on Sept. 23, 2015.
The Huskers are back in action at the Woody Greeno/Dirksen Invite on Sept. 17.
