During the evening of Monday, Sept. 19th, 47 student-athletes took advantage of an Athlete Network Seminar to hear an impactful message around the power of being an athlete. With the annual Husker Student-Athlete Career Fair taking place next Monday, Sept. 26th, these student-athletes were eager to hear about what companies look for in graduates today and how to market themselves by using the same traits that make them a successful athlete.
DJ Washington, Vice President of Business Development for Athlete Network, provided advice and addressed three things that will assist student-athletes in having a successful career: having a plan, differentiating yourself in order to stand out, and understanding the importance of networking.
Anna Peer, a senior on the cross country team, felt the seminar was extremely beneficial: “Not only was the seminar valuable in preparing me for the career fair, but also for future encounters such as medical school interviews”.
Athlete Network was founded by athletes with a simple mission: create an online community where athletes can fuel their driven lifestyles. Their goal is to keep athletes competing in every aspect of their lives by uniting them in one network built by athletes, for athletes.
