Lincoln - Coach Mike Riley and members of the No. 20 Nebraska football team met the media at Memorial Stadium on Monday to open game week for the Huskers' Big Ten opener at Northwestern on Saturday.
Kick-off between the Huskers (3-0) and the Wildcats (1-2) is set for Saturday at 6:30 p.m., with a live telecast from the Big Ten Network.
The Huskers are coming off a 35-32 win over No. 22 Oregon to complete non-conference play with a 3-0 record. Nebraska rallied from a 13-point first-half deficit, as Tommy Armstrong Jr. scored the game-winning touchdown on a 34-yard run late in the fourth quarter. Armstrong, a senior from Cibolo, Texas, had a hand in four touchdowns in the win over the Ducks, including three touchdown passes.
Two of Armstrong's scoring strikes went to wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp. The senior from Lombard, Ill., and graduate of Montini Catholic, will be playing in front of approximately 100 family and friends at Ryan Field in Evanston.
Nebraska's Big Ten series with Northwestern has been filled with heart-stopping moments, including Westerkamp's Hail Mary catch as a redshirt freshman in 2013 from Ron Kellogg III. The 49-yard reception gave Nebraska a 27-24 win at Memorial Stadium.
In 2012, the Huskers defeated the Wildcats, 29-28, at Ryan Field. Last season, Northwestern returned the favor with a 30-28 victory in Lincoln.
