On being the guy who caught Tommy Armstrong Jr.'s school-record 57th touchdown pass
"It’s just funny how it all happened, coming in with a guy that it seems like 20 years ago when we first got here and just been working together ever since. To have him break that record and me being on the receiving end means so much to me and to us as friends because I think it was beyond the whole football thing. It was a really special moment for us."

On being roommates
"We are roommates. We mess around here and there. People will be like 'Oh, do you throw him the ball more because you’re roommates' or whatever it might be. It’s just super cool how it all happened, and it was a special moment for us outside of being football players, just as friends too."

On the Oregon game
"It’s a big game. Everything is a big game. So we’re just going to have to do what we do normally and work our tails off during the week. Obviously they’re a ranked opponent, so it would be awesome for us as a program to be able to beat them and put our name out there nationally and get into those rankings."

On the big-game atmosphere
"As the days get closer it’ll feel more and more. Yeah, definitely the sense of urgency is a little higher and what we've got to do. We’re not going to change anything or go out of the way or start doing things we haven’t before. We've just got to stick to what we’ve been doing and prepare like normal and just get ready to go."

On the touchdown pass Armstrong threw
"We do it in practice all the time. Tommy makes that throw all the time, and he was able to fit it in between two guys perfectly, so it was a great throw by him. Awesome throw, so it was a good moment for us. He’s been improving so much throwing the ball and in his whole game in general. He’s been more mature as we all are when we get older and continue to work in this program. He’s taken such great strides, and it’s awesome to see that as a leader on our team and he’s just continued to get better and better."

On the balance of this offense
"It was huge. Being able to split up the offense like that and show that you can run it and pass it makes you so much more diverse as an offense and way more dangerous. Now teams can’t just focus on the one thing, they have to worry about the whole package, and Tommy can run the ball as well, so it’s pretty dangerous on the attack to have all of those areas working well."

On punt returns
"Punters are getting better with directional punts, and you start to see the evolution of the punters rolling out and trying to line drive it into the ground. There’s a lot of things that are different now. We haven’t even really had an opportunity yet to return one, but I know it’s coming and I know De’Mornay will go crazy with that."

On the penalties and being a captain
"In these past two weeks we’ve had some penalties that were totally out of control and had nothing to do with the other team, and we need to fix that and we will. I have total confidence that we’ll get those fixed, which is more of a self-restraint thing with some of the penalties after plays and we can fix that no doubt and we will."
