On team growth
“We have grown a lot more, individually grown. Performance-wise, we go out there and throw 3-4 times a week instead of 1-2. Doing individual drills almost every day. Held a lot of guys responsible for being on time. On our days off we still came out and did routes and we threw the ball a few times - field guys, defensive guys, defensive linemen came out and did drills. Offensive guys were out there setting and snapping. I think our offseason was made purposeful. We wanted to work out even if the coaches weren’t there on certain days. We still wanted to be out there on our own. We had a lot of guys step up and hold their own and be accountable for those actions.
On the offseason
“I’ll say how you set up your offseason is how you finish out your workouts, run first and then lift after. Work hard on everything you do. We are responsible for our job. That’s how it is in football. You have to be responsible in your job and what you do. When you do that and all 11 guys are on the field doing that, you can’t go wrong. I think that it’s good to have those guys know what to do during the offseason and being able to compete not only on the field but in the weight room. Having a little competition, having those guys see how it is to compete next to each other”
On the future without Sam Foltz
“We've still got to stay on the same course, understand that we have to be on the same course. Last week was kind of a rough week not only for myself but for the team. But we've got to make sure we take it on the right way handling the situation. We've got to play like he was here, and he would want us to do that. Unfortunate that it happened, but we've got to make sure we stay together as a team. I think it unified our team a little bit more.”
On the receivers
“They’re real good. They’re talented, they’re the most talented group I’ve had since I got here. Those guys make it easier for me. They make is easier for the running backs. They give defenses trouble, and they’re going to help us a lot. It’s good that they’re all going to be healthy. They’re going to do what they do best.”
On staying on track
“I say that you just have to keep pushing yourself. Keep working how you’ve been working and have the right mindset and don’t get yourself down because you know when you have things like that happen, you've got to work yourself. I think fall camp might help them a lot by getting over those hills and overcoming those injuries. I think that’s all it takes. Those guys work here and there building to see how talented this group is.
On Fan Day
“The last four years I’ve done it. It’s an incredible feeling to go out there and do what we do best and be there for the fans, especially them. Fan Day is all about being there for the fans. Going out and signing autographs.
