RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - Former Nebraska track and field high jumper Marusa Cernjul finished 21st in Olympic qualifying for Slovenia on Thursday.
Cernjul cleared 6-3 1/2 (1.92m) in her first appearance at the Olympics, finishing 21st out of 36 jumpers. Cernjul was not far off her personal best, which was 6-4 (1.93m), set at the Slovenian Championships this summer.
Cernjul was a first-team All-American in the high jump at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships and won the Big Ten outdoor title as a freshman in 2012. Her personal best in college was 6-1 1/4 (1.86), which ranks fourth in NU outdoor history.
