Zsivoczky-Farkas Finishes Eighth at Olympics

Former Nebraska track and field athlete Györgyi Zsivoczky-Farkas finished eighth in the heptathlon for Hungary at the Olympics, her best finish in her third appearance at the Games.

Zsivoczky-Farkas totaled a personal-best 6,442 points. She was sixth in the high jump - clearing 6-1 1/4 (1.86m) - and seventh in the shot put (47-2 1/2, 14.39m). She posted other top-10 finishes in the long jump, javelin and 800m. 

Zsivoczky-Farkas represented Hungary in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, finishing 28th and 22nd, respectively. 

Two other Husker track and field athletes will take the stage this week. Miles Ukaoma races for Nigeria in the 400m hurdles Monday at 9:30 a.m. (CT). Marusa Cernjul begins high jump qualifications for Slovenia on Thursday at 8 a.m. (CT).
