LAWRENCE, Kan. - Thunderstorms and heavy rain forced all events to be suspended on day one at the NCAA Track & Field West Preliminary Round at Rock Chalk Park on Thursday.
The third and final flights of the women's javelin and men's hammer throw were just getting underway when lightning postponed competition shortly after 2:30 p.m. (CT). The Huskers in those events were all in flight three.
The meet was never able to resume and was officially suspended for the day more than four hours later.
