LINCOLN - Nebraska track and field student-athletes Levi Gipson and Cody Rush were named to the Academic All-District 7 team on Thursday, the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced.
Gipson, a senior from Lincoln and three-time academic all-district selection, carries a 3.96 GPA majoring in nutrition, exercise and health science. Gipson was a first-team Academic All-American the past two seasons.
Rush, a senior from Grand Island, has a 3.93 GPA majoring in nutrition science. The honor is the second of his career, as he earned a spot on the academic all-district team in 2014 and was a CoSIDA second-team All-American.
Both Gipson and Rush were part of the 4x400-meter relay that won the Big Ten outdoor title in Lincoln two weeks ago. They are competing at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Lawrence, Kan., this week, both in the 4x400 relay and in the 400 meters.
