Nebraska track and field head coach Gary Pepin earned Big Ten Men's Outdoor Coach-of-the-Year honors, announced by the conference office on Tuesday. His award comes two days after the Husker men captured the Big Ten Outdoor title at Ed Weir Stadium.
Pepin also won the Big Ten Men's Indoor Coach-of-the-Year award in March after the NU men claimed the conference crown. It marks Pepin's 27th conference coach-of-the-year honor since 1997, when the Huskers started competing in the Big 12. The 2016 Big Ten Men's Outdoor title was Pepin's 72nd career conference title and 30th outdoors.
Nebraska scored 140.5 team points to win by 50 over runner-up Michigan (90.5), marking the largest margin of victory by a Big Ten team at the outdoor meet since 2005.
The honor marks Pepin's fifth selection as Big Ten Coach of the Year since the Huskers moved to the conference in 2011-12.
Nebraska's sportsmanship award winners were Paula Andrie and Mike McCann.
