The Nebraska softball team has earned the No. 5 seed for the Big Ten Tournament and will face No. 12 seed Purdue on Thursday, May 12 at 4:30 p.m. (Central). The 2016 Big Ten Softball Tournament is being played at Beard Field on the Penn State Campus.
The Big Ten Tournament is a single-elimination format. If the Huskers win their Thursday matchup with Purdue, Nebraska will take on fourth-seeded Penn State on Friday at 4:30 p.m. (Central). Every game of the 2016 Big Ten Softball Tournament will air live on the Big Ten Network. A radio call of every Nebraska game will also be available for free on Huskers.com, courtesy of the IMG Husker Sports Network. Fans are advised that start times may be delayed by the length of previous games.
Nebraska finished as the runner-up at the 2015 Big Ten Tournament. The Huskers own a 3-3 all-time record at the event. Nebraska and Purdue met two weeks ago at Bowlin Stadium, with the Boilermakers winning the series opener before the Huskers won the final two games. Nebraska and Penn State have not met since a 2-1 Husker series victory in 2013.
Other teams on Nebraska's half of the bracket include No. 1 Michigan, the defending Big Ten Tournament champion, No. 8 seed Wisconsin and No. 9 seed Indiana.
