Lincoln, Neb. --- The Nebraska soccer team finished its spring season on Saturday night against former Big 12 foe Colorado at Barbara Hibner Stadium in front of 857 fans. Senior Caroline Flynn scored Nebraska's only goal of the night in the Huskers' 3-1 loss to Colorado.
Colorado connected first after a breakaway from Danica Evans in the eighth minute. Neither team scored for just under 20 minutes, until Nebraska's Flynn scored on a free kick tying the score at 1-1.
NU and Colorado battled back and forth for the rest of the first period, but neither team found the net for the rest of the period. The score was tied 1-1 heading into halftime.
In the second period, Colorado came out firing, and eventually Stephanie Zuniga's shot hit the back of the net after just over nine minutes of play in the second half, giving the Buffaloes a 2-1 lead over the Huskers. Zuniga scored again shortly after, to extend her team's lead. Zuniga's pair of goals would be the final two scoring plays of the game.
The Huskers begin the fall season on Aug. 13 when the team hosts North Dakota State for an exhibition game. The game is set to begin a 7:05 p.m.
