LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Nebraska track and field team began quadrangular action at the Kansas Relays on Friday at Rock Chalk Park.
With two events scored, the Husker men have 26 points to lead Colorado State (23), Kansas (13) and Rice (9). On the women's side, Kansas has 23 points, while Nebraska has 19. Colorado State (18) and Rice (3) trail the Big Red. The rest of the events run Saturday afternoon and evening.
Jake Pinion threw a personal best in the hammer throw, 190-5, to finish third. Chris Daniels (189-8) and Jackson Ingram (184-8) also set personal bests. Alice Akers threw 171-7 in the women's hammer throw to take sixth.
In preliminary rounds, Sam Bransby set a 400-meter personal best of 46.95, as did Tanner Townsend (47.24). Jake Nelson also qualified for the final with a time of 47.83.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Ashleigh Carr set a PR of 1:00.52 to qualify for the final. Luke Siedhoff (unattached, 14.39) and Andy Neal (14.96) reached the 110-meter hurdles final, while Morgan Smith (14.27) qualified in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
