Huskers Welcome David Samardzija

Lincoln - Coach Kerry McDermott announced the addition of David Samardzija to the Nebraska men's tennis program on Wednesday, April. 20. Samardzija will join the Huskers in August to compete in the 2016-17 season.

Samardzija is a top-ranked junior competitior from Croatia and was the runner-up at the 2015 Junior Nationals in singles and ranked No. 2 in Croatia. His highest ITF Junior Ranking was No. 780. He also competed in some Futures tournaments to prepare for college level tennis.

Samardzija was ranked among the top 150 players on European rankings in the U14 division. 

"David is an excellent athlete and will only improve our program," McDermott said. "He will finally have access to a structured environment with better players to train with on a daily basis. We feel he will fit in nicely with the team next year. He is a very good student and will fit the mold of the student-athletes that we are looking for in our program."
